Testimonials/ Catherine Ryan Hyde:

Teaching is an art, a gift, and a practice. We all remember our favorite teacher because they touched, moved, and inspired us in some way. It may have been in the third grade, or high school, or a college professor that mixed art, science, and passion that shifted our world. That’s Catherine. She adds a special listening to her mix of talents that allows writers to become writers, no matter how  long or how short their experience is with the written word. She does all of that and mixes in a sense of humor that keeps her classes fun, powerful, and transformative.

"I started taking Catherine Ryan Hyde's fiction workshops ten years ago. Her writing workshops are never the same. I appreciate the fun and innovation she brings to her classes. She introduces different approaches and offers something for every type of person, turning a student into a writer. Catherine doesn't hold back in her writing or her teaching. I always learn something new and look forward to her next workshop."

Novelist Druscilla Campbell’s Advice About Writing Groups

Ace Antonio Hall Blogs All He Knows About Queries!

(con't from Museletter)

.....But let’s face it. We’re talking about the publishing business—a beast all of its own entity. I know. It could be so blasted confusing. Every author and their uncle have a blog about writing killer query letters. But, like one of my characters, Blanche Bankhead would say, “What a lot of them don’t tell you, darling, is that there’s more than one way to make a heart skip a beat.” In this case, we’re discussing how to get a literary agent excited.

When you don’t really know for sure which blog to follow, who do you trust?

MarketingtheMuse @ GLAWS on May 21 2011

We will pass around a sign-up list and quick critique as many query letters as possible! By the way, if you live in So Cal. & you're not a GLAWS member, think about joining this well run group of authors on the road to publication!

ebook REVOLUTION!

This will inspire you to believe in your work. However, even with her success, listen to her words though even as her NOOK sales climbed....

"I kept waiting for it to turn into a failure"

This lack of confidence is endemic to the writing life and what our industry has depended on since our industry began--a writer's low self esteem. Sound familiar? I bet it does.....

JOIN US! MtheM: ‘Real Time’ Road to Publication & Platform Building Workshop

WHEN: When a group forms—no more than 4

WHERE: Montecito near Westmont U.

WHO Should Attend: Authors with 1st drafts of fiction/non-fiction (memoirs & book proposals)

MtheM: The Road to Publication & Platform Building Workshop

WHAT we will accomplish is answered in these questions:

Does the beginning, middle & end of the project hold up?

Is the platform built to launch this project comprehensive?

Are you speaking to your markets?

Does the query letter reflect the work and the author's expertise?

Critical elements of getting published will be covered. In addition to critiquing the beginning, middle & endings of each author’s novel/non fiction book, authors will have one Marketing My Muse folder filled with pertinent information collected from mandatory assignments due each session. Each assignment is designed to build/strengthen individual platforms.

All sessions videotaped. Workshop fee is adjusted to 'below market' to show appreciation for writers' willingness to be videotaped.

OWN AGING: Aging Well In Our Anti-Aging Culture

OWN AGING: Aging Well In Our Anti-Aging Culture.

I produced this 3 minute video for Oprah Winfrey Network's TV talent search. So far, Ms. O has not called but lots of folks have responded favorably. Evidently, I've hit a nerve. The truth is, we all are aging. Let's not make it a dirty word.
